To celebrate World Rivers Day 2022 on September 25th, this first track of my ongoing experimental project 'Source(ry)' is available as a free download.
Source(ry) no.1 l'Indre is based on recordings made at and close to the source of the river Indre in Central France on one of the hottest days in the summer of 2022. It embraces a lo-fi aesthetic of field-recording exploring natural sounds, ambience and distortions made from incidental sounds from the recording process itself. The numerous recordings are then recomposed, collaged, layered and added to via effects, and instrument sounds made with an Akai Mini in Logic Pro to capture feelings and moods from ritualistic bowl and bell-like singing.
At 4.39mins in length, it is the equivalent to 279 secs, reflecting the physical length of the River Indre which is 279km long.
